Richard comes from Sheffield and graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MChem degree in Chemistry in 2016. In September 2016 he joined the Ashbrook group for PhD study investigating aluminosilicate materials using solid-state NMR spectroscopy in collaboration with Cemex.

Outside of Chemistry, Richard is interested in cooking, cycling and travelling.

Richard also did a 4th year honours project in the group,  supervised by Daniel and Sharon, working on the 17O Enrichment of metal organic frameworks for study by NMR spectroscopy.
