Eleanor is a PhD student at the Research School of Earth Sciences, Australian National University. She graduated from Monash University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) with Honours.

For her PhD, Eleanor is studying how the atomic-scale structure of magma is affected by pressure. This is important because many geochemical processes involve the interaction of solid and molten rock deep under the surface of the Earth, at very high pressure conditions. She will spend almost three months at St Andrews, using NMR spectroscopy to investigate the structure of silicate glasses which were quenched from synthetic melts at high temperatures and varying pressures.
