The School of Chemistry is located on the North Haugh, just outside (to the west of) the main part of the town of St Andrews. We recommend that you download and print out a copy of the Campus Map (pdf file) and this page before you visit. There is also a walking/cycling map. The School of Chemistry building, the Purdie Building, is number 10 and is located on the border of squares D3 and E3 on the Campus Map, the western part of which is reproduced below (North is UP):
On foot from the centre of St Andrews walk westwards along St Mary's Place and Doubledykes Road and head for the number 15 on the map above either by going through Kinburn Park or along Kennedy Gardens. Then head westwards along the road just underneath the numbers 15,14,10 which can be reached by walking down the steps or a sloping path to the west. The second level entrance to the Purdie Building is where the number 10 is marked on this map.
The department can be reached by car by approaching St Andrews from the west along the A91 (top left of square C1 on the map above). Turn right at the roundabout at the entrance to the town (square E2) and then turn right again at the next mini-roundabout (F2).The Chemistry building (numbered 11) is in front of you. Now refer to the map below for parking information.

Parking: Chemistry has the numbers 18,50,18a around it on this map. There are several options for parking your car. The most convenient are the Biomolecular Sciences car park (just above the number 18 on the map) and the Chemistry Stores car park (number 18). Other options include in front of the Level 2 entrance of the Purdie building (50 on the map) or opposite New Hall (i.e. above building 70, at the blue P symbol).
